Film Production in New York City
Every year films continue to be made in New York City, and right now there are three currently in production. Mania Days starring recently divorced Katie Holmes is about two manic depressives who meet in a psychiatric hospital and start a romance that brings out all of the beauty and horror of their condition. It also includes Luke Kirby, best known for his work in the TV show, “Rectify” and known other than the great Griffin Dunne himself, who would probably prefer not to be reminded of his performance in the 1987 comedy, “Who’s That Girl”, alongside pop icon Madonna, which incidentally was filmed in New York along with “After Hours”, “I Like it Like That”, “Game 6”, “Last Night” and more recently “Broken City” where he starred opposite Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Also in production, is “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, which is currently filming in Brooklyn. Andrew Garfield continues his role as Peter Parker AKA Spidy in this sequel, which is expected to be released in April 2014.
And finally, “The Other Woman” went into production last month. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Leslie Mann, Taylor Kinney, top model Kate Upton and Hollywood icon Cameron Diaz, who has appeared in several New York based films such as “She’s The One”, “Vanilla Sky” and “What Happens in Vegas”. “The Other Woman” which is not a remake to the 2009 Natalie Portman film with the same title and based in New York City is about revenge and will be released in 2014.
