In November 2013, otsoNY reviewed 3 iPhone Apps that offered mobile phone users a brief insight into New York films and their real-life locations in the city. The overall opinion for each of the apps was disappointment as they only offered a handful of main-stream-films.

Since then, Gabi Harel (the creator of Reel Estates) has offered otsoNY a free tour of his highly successful USA based film location mobile app which showcases over 500 titles. The app is easy to install and loads extremely fast. There is a simple menu system which allows you to create your own tour as well as search through a list of film titles. There is also a useful map which gives reference to film locations in US cities; and allows you to zoom in and click on 3D buildings to reveal a film title, an actual address and a screen shot.

Gadi Harel, who is a screenwriter living in Los Angeles developed the app last year. “The app is for the iPhone and showcases film locations across the United States” explained Gadi. “It has been featured in Entertainment Weekly as well as in USA Today. The response has been great.”

Originally, the app was only designed to cover the homes of film characters, but Gadi has big plans for its future. “I want to expand the concept to include restaurants, bars, schools and so on. If someone is using the app and they are walking around a neighbourhood curious about their surroundings, wondering what's been seen on TV or in films, I want to provide them with that information.”
