Twin Towers at Christmas
There is always a bit of a jolt to thumb through a photograph album and to come upon a picture of someone who's gone, a beloved relative or friend who left before their time. It’s a moment that hurts again and the loss is compressed into a single moment of grief. It's not the exact same feeling, but there is something like that moment when you watch a film shot in New York City between the years 1970 and 2001, and that inevitable scene that includes the image of the World Trade Center twin towers.
The towers have always been considered by otsoNY as subject difficult to feature and talk about, even after so many years have passed. As a sign of respect to those families that have lost a loved one in the horrific terror attacks of September 11th, 2001 the message is still the same…. They will never be forgotten.
Each year we pause our busy lives to remember those victims and during the run up to Christmas, a thought should be spared to those most affected once again as the towers have appeared in literally hundreds of films, sometimes as background, sometimes very active in the onscreen action, but its eventual fate always makes it the foreground object when those films are viewed now.
