Megan Fox Back in NYC

8 July 2019

Actress Megan Fox returned to New York City for the production of the fantasy film "Above the Shadows", which follows a young woman called Holly played by Olivia Thirlby, who has faded from the world to the point of becoming invisible. After more than a decade existing in the shadows, Holly meets the one man who can see her, Shayne Blackwell played by Alan Ritchson, a disgraced MMA fighter. Holly then discovers that it was one of her tabloid photographs that caused his downfall, and that she must restore him to his former glory if she wants to regain a foothold in the world around her. With Shayne, Holly awakens to love but also to the possibility that she may remain invisible forever.

A supernatural tale which is released to cinema audiences this month is based on an original script written by director Claudia Myers. In November 2017, it was announced that Olivia Thirlby, Alan Ritchson, Jim Gaffigan, and Megan Fox were set to star in the film, which, at the time, was under the name "Shadow Girl".

Megan Fox is no stranger to New York-based films having starred in "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People", "The Dictator" and for a brief stint as April O'Neil in the two "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" films, though in more recent times she has remained off screen, other than an extended cameo appearance on the Fox series "New Girl". Apart from "Above the Shadows", Fox has the films "Zeroville", "Think Like a Dog" and "Battle of Jangsari" due for release later this year. In May 2019, it was announced that Fox was to star in the upcoming drama comedy "Big Gold Brick", beside actors Andy Garcia, Lucy Hale, and Emory Cohen.

Though there is very little information about the production of "Above the Shadows", it does seem to have been shot in New York, with the trailer referencing the famous skyline as well as Water Street between Peck Slip and Dover Street, Federal Hall at 26 Wall Street and Nassau Street, the Meatpacking District and Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
