Time for a Revisit

14 July 2013

Although all sights are set on reaching the 900th film this year, otsoNY takes time out to repeat the exercise it did back in August 2012, picking 3 films; The Devil Wears Prada, Just My Luck and Confessions of a Shopaholic to revisit and add extra filming locations. Next month will see otsoNY re-examine the heart-felt romantic drama, The Prince of Tides, the classic 1980’s comedy, Crocodile Dundee and the erotic thriller, Sliver.

New York reporter Sue Charlton played by Linda Kozlowski travels to Australia to meet and interview Michael J Crocodile Dundee played by Paul Hogan, a man who runs a safari business and has just survived an attack by a crocodile. After spending a few days touring the safari park, Sue invites Mick to come back with her to visit New York. How would the clash of cultures and different life style affect the Aussie bushman? How do things turn out when Sue falls for his charms?

When a Southern born New York writer tries to commit suicide, her "unemployed-football-coach" twin brother, Tom Wingo played by Nick Nolte, comes to her aid. While tending to his sister Savannah's care he meets her psychiatrist, Dr. Susan Lowenstein played by Barbra Streisand. Dr. Lowenstein, desperate to unlock the door to her patient's self-destructive pattern, relies on Tom to be his sister's memory. What she doesn't realize is that the last thing Tom wants to do is remember. Haunted by a painful childhood and a domineering mother, Tom discovers the only thing worse than not remembering is not telling.

Young publishing executive Carly Norris played by Sharon Stone takes an apartment in an exclusive "sliver" building in New York, only to learn that the previous tenant, who bore a great resemblance to Carly, died in a mysterious fall from the apartment balcony. When other tenants of the building begin to die likewise mysteriously, Carly begins to suspect that a killer may be inhabiting the building and that it may be either Zeke, the voyeuristic building owner with whom she's become involved romantically, or Jack, a mystery writer with a suspicious quality.

The 900th film is expected to be posted in 2013.
