15 Minutes (2001)

When Eastern European criminals Oleg and Emil come to New York City to pick up their share of a heist score, Oleg steals a video camera and starts filming their activities, both legal and illegal. When they learn how the American media circus can make a remorseless killer look like the victim and make them rich, they target media-savvy NYPD Homicide Detective Eddie Flemming (Robert De Niro) and media-naive FDNY Fire Marshal Jordy Warsaw (Edward Burns), the cops investigating their murder and torching of their former criminal partner, filming everything to sell to the local tabloid TV show "Top Story."


Hair Salon, East 66th Street and Madison Avenue, Manhattan.
  66th Street is a crosstown street in the New York City borough of Manhattan with portions on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side connected across Central Park via the 65th Street Transverse. West 66th Street is the location of the historical Lincoln Square and the modern Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts at Broadway and Columbus Avenue.  

Madison Avenue (btw East 66th Street and 63rd Street) Manhattan.
  Madison Avenue is a north-south avenue that carries northbound one-way traffic. It is named after and arises from Madison Square, which is itself named after James Madison, the fourth President of the United States and has featured in several films such as Just My Luck, Sliver, Picture Perfect, Confessions of a Shopaholic and Ghost Town.  

otsoNY Comments: The scenes with Ed Burns and Robert De Niro running down Madison Avenue were shot on a Sunday in July 1999 in 106 degree heat. The chase scene required closing the avenue for six blocks from 60th to 66th Street.

East 62nd Street and Madison Avenue, Manhattan.
  The Upper East Side is a neighbourhood btw Central Park and the East River. The Upper East Side lies within an area bounded by 59th Street, 96th Street, Central Park and the East River. Once known as the 'Silk Stocking District', it has more recently retained its position as the most affluent area of New York City, and today has some of the most expensive real estate in the world.  

otsoNY Comments: Charlize Theron appeared for free, as a "thank you" to John Herzfeld for giving her the breakthrough role in 2 Days in the Valley (1996).

Amaranth Restaurant, 21 East 62nd Street and Madison Avenue, Manhattan.
  Amaranth is located in the heart of the most famous shopping strip of the Upper East Side of Manhattan and few steps from Central Park.

Battery Park, Manhattan.
  Battery Park is based in lower Manhattan and has been featured in films such as Desperately Seeking Susan, Men in Black and She's The One.
