Carly Rae Jepsen Music Video in NYC

17 August 2015

Carly Rae Jepsen’s music video for “I Really Like You” was filmed in New York City with the help of actor Tom Hanks. The unlikely duo met at Scooter Braun’s wedding, manager to Justin Bieber, setting the stage for the pairing and started work on the bubbly single a short time after.

The song was written by Jepsen, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, and Peter Svensson, and peaked at number fourteen on the Canadian Hot 100. Internationally, the song peaked within the top ten of the charts in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, while reaching the top twenty in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland.

Jepsen filmed part of the song's music video in front of the Mondrian Hotel in Manhattan alongside Tom Hanks, Justin Bieber and a troupe of dancers. Also making cameo appearances in the video are Rudy Mancuso and Andrew B. Bachelor (A.K.A. King Bach), well-known users of the short-form video sharing application Vine.

The video was released on earlier this year. CBC Music's Nicolle Weeks described it as "a more affable version" of the music video for The Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony".

Filming took place on Crosby Street between Howard Street and Grand Street.
