Ocean's Eight Filming in New York City
Production on the spin-off of the Ocean’s Trilogy got under way last year and there has been more filming on the streets of New York in recent days, particular at The Met. Other locations have included Myrtle Avenue from 116th to 117th Street in Richmond Hill, Fifth Avenue and 79th Street, and 3rd Avenue and 52nd Street in Manhattan.
The upcoming heist comedy which is due for release in June 2018 is directed by Gary Ross and written by Gary Ross and Olivia Milch. The actual cast as expected includes at least one familiar face linked to the Ocean’s Trilogy, that of Matt Damon who played Linus Caldwell. Aside from him, the cast is new and made up of female actors such as Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, popstar Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling and Sandra Bullock, who is believed to be Danny Ocean's estranged sister.
During pre-production, the film's working title was Ocean's Ocho. In August 2016, Bullock, Blanchett, Bonham Carter and Kaling were confirmed to star, with Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Awkwafina and Sarah Paulson closing deals to fill the cast. During production on the film, Dakota Fanning and Damian Lewis were spotted on set, with Lewis's casting being confirmed in December 2016. This month it was revealed that James Corden had joined the cast as an insurance broker and that a host of famous people such as Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Zac Posen, Derek Blasberg, Lauren Santo Domingo, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner would possibly make cameo roles in the film.
Will this project suffer the same fate that the all female cast recently did with the rebooted Ghostbusters film, early reports and comments online seem to think so. Watch this space.
