The Search for Some Velvet Morning Film Location

The creative drama “Some Velvet Morning” was originally released in 2013, and was directed by Neil LaBute. It starred Alice Eve and Stanley Tucci.

Set entirely inside a rowhouse located in Brooklyn, New York City, and taking place in real time featuring a cast of only two persons, a middle-aged lawyer named Fred played by Stanley Tucci, who surprises his beautiful young mistress Velvet played by Alice Eve, by arriving at her doorstep after four years, claiming to have finally left his wife. After she rejects his attempts to rekindle their romance, his persistence evolves into obsession. As tensions rise, a dark history between the former lovers comes into focus.

Initially Velvet tries to get Fred to leave by claiming that she has another appointment with Fred's son, Chris. During Fred and Velvet's discussions, Velvet reveals that she was, and currently still, works as a high-priced escort whom Fred met on one of his many business trips. Their talk eventually leads to a string of arguments over their relationship. The fight leads to violence as Fred forces himself upon Velvet and rapes her before walking out.

The climactic twist comes when Fred returns and both he and Velvet break character by revealing how they enjoyed play acting the entire scene. It turns out that 'Fred' is just one of Velvet's regular clients and they meet regularly to act out Fred's different fantasies. Fred pays Velvet for her services as well as some extra money for overstaying the hour. When Velvet expresses her wish to play a role other than escort in their future encounters, Fred suggests that she can be a nurse and he'll play her patient. As he leaves, Velvet asks Fred to promise that he'll call her to schedule their next appointment.

The film received mixed reviews upon release, and has now been added to the “Coming Soon” section on otsoNY, with the actual location of the house to be identified next month.

ALice Eve

British actress Alice Eve is no stranger to New York based films, having starred in Sex and the City 2, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, and Men in Black 3, though among Star Trek fans, she is more commonly known for her role as Dr. Carol Marcus.

Eve was born in London, the daughter of actors Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan. Besides she film work, Eve has appeared in television dramas such as the BBC's “The Rotters' Club”, “Agatha Christie's Poirot“ and “Hawking”. In 2006, she starred in two comedy films: “Starter for 10” and “Big Nothing”, in which she and co-star Simon Pegg put on American accents. She spent the early part of 2006 in India working on the drama miniseries “Losing Gemma” about backpackers.

In 2010, Eve played the female lead role in the American romantic comedy “She's Out of My League”, in which her parents play the roles of her character's parents. She also played the role of Erin, Charlotte's Irish nanny, in “Sex and the City 2”. During 2011, Eve had a recurring guest role in season 8 of the HBO series “Entourage”, as Sophia, a journalist and love interest to Vincent Chase, and in the same year also portrayed Hollywood actress Lara Tyler in the romantic comedy “The Decoy Bride”.

In 2012, she played the younger 1969 version of Agent O in the sci-fi comedy “Men in Black 3”, the older version being played by Emma Thompson. More recently, Eve has appeared in “ATM”, “Dirty Weekend”, “Please Stand By”, “The Stolen”, and “The Con is On”, alongside Uma Thurman and Maggie Q.
