The film based on John Lutz's novel SWF Seeks Same starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh and was directed by Barbet Schroeder. Fonda played Allison Jones, a software designer in New York City, who was engaged to Sam Rawson played by Steven Weber. After Sam receives a call from his ex-wife, it becomes apparent to Allison that he has recently slept with her and so decides to throw him out of the apartment and break off their engagement. In the meantime, Allison advertises for a new roommate to share her apartment in the Ansonia. She settles on Hedra Carlson played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, whom she nicknames "Hedy" and quickly forms a bond, but as Allison starts to rethink her engagement, Hedra becomes jealous and hostile. As Allison learns new details about her roommate's life, Hedra gets violent in her efforts to get Sam out of the picture. With Hedra turning more menacing by the minute, Allison finally understands what she is up against.

Other locations that will be included in the revisit are the Hair Salon at 433 West Broadway, and Rizzoli book shop, which has since closed but originally stood at 452 West Broadway between Prince Street and W Houston Street. The BDSM club exterior was from a former real Manhattan S&M club called the Vault also known as The Hellfire Club at 675 Hudson Street in the meat packing district of Greenwich Village. The interior is a set, but the red signature V is on one of the walls. The entrance used, was from the gay club side called "The Manhole".
