Addicted to Love Revisit

23 November 2018

As often happens, otsoNY revisits a selection of New York-based films that have previously been posted in an attempt to find additional film locations and improve the quality of the screen grabs.

Next month sees another title join the prestigious club, the romantic comedy “Addicted to Love” starring Matthew Broderick as a small-town astronomer who is devastated when his fiancée, Linda played by the glamorous Kelly Preston, leaves him for a French chef during an out-of-town vacation. Obsessed, he follows her to New York City and moves in across the street from her shared apartment, where he spies on Linda and her new lover, Anton and records their lives. One day, he is joined by Maggie played by Meg Ryan, Anton's equally vengeful ex-girlfriend, and the two plot to break up the new couple. Meg Ryan has starred in seven New York-based films, of which include the classics “When Harry Met Sally”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, “Kate and Leopold” and “You’ve Got Mail”.

The film “Addicted to Love” was released in 1997 and was one of the very first films to be posted on otsoNY. It was directed by Griffin Dunne, famous for his roles in “An American Werewolf in London”, “Who’s That Girl” alongside pop queen Madonna, and more recently in “Ocean’s Eight”.

While the majority of the filming took place where it was set, in the Greenwich Village area of New York City, some shooting was done in Centreville, Delaware and Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
