Behind the Rabbit Productions

24 February 2015

Behind the Rabbit Productions have recently launched a new and exciting feature on their website called WATCH THIS FILM. Jason Godbey is the Creative Director for the Brooklyn based production company and was kind of enough to talk to otsoNY about the new addition to its website. “The purpose of the show is to continue the dialogue with our followers, a group consisting mostly of filmmakers, actors, writers, bloggers and movie fans about their mutual passion and love for cinema,” explained Jason. “In each episode, presenter Molly Grace Byrnes introduces a classic film, gives a brief description of its plot, analyze some of the techniques used in its making, discusses the emotional impact of the film and wraps up with an invitation to the audience to join the conversation on Twitter.”

“In the past year our Twitter following has grown exponentially,” continued Jason Godbey. “We’ve gotten a lot of support from the Twitter film community. We wanted to create a series to show our appreciation and bring these films to a new audience and a new generation of filmmakers. We’ve chosen movies that inspired us, and we believe that viewers will be inspired too, inspired to start a conversation, to seek out similar films, to internalize what they see and use it in their own filmmaking.”

Behind the Rabbit Productions got its name from a scene in Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and began its early days on MySpace. Since then, it has grown in content and now has a team of people working for the company. “Joseph Bongiorno and I met in junior high and started making films together,” explains Jason. “I met Patrick Reis in college, and we've been friends and collaborators ever since. Christopher Gillard and I met through a mutual friend about ten years ago, and I've known Rebecca Cremonese, my writing partner for 10 years. Molly Grace Byrnes and I met when I cast her in a short film called The Last Hit. And finally, Maria Aparo joined the company when I cast her in The Jessica Project, and she's been a key member since then.”
