We'll Take Manhattan Comes to OTSONY

29 April 2012

Months of consideration have gone into the decision whether or not to post locations from the BBC TV film, “We’ll Take Manhattan”.

The film made for TV aired in the UK during January 2012 and has since been released on DVD. It follows the events of photographer David Bailey as he arrives in New York City with his model Jean Shrimpton having been given a contract with British Vogue, an extremely prestigious and yet quite conservative fashion magazine. The film stars two up and coming English actors, Aneurin Barnard plays David Bailey and slipping into the shoes of Jean Shripton is Karen Gillan, better known for her appearances in the TV show, Doctor Who, and as OTSONY draws even closer to the celebration of 700 films with only a mere 6 films to go, the decision has finally been made to include the BBC masterpiece.

“We’ll Take Manhattan” is based in the winter of 1962, a freezing week in Manhattan, where David and Jean behave badly, fall in love, drive their fashion editor Lady Clare Rendlesham to tears, make startling photographs, and help invent the sixties. It will posted online during May and leaves the question open as to what will be the film that takes the coveted 700 posting. Favourites include the box office hits, “Man on a Ledge” and “New Years Eve”, the artful indie “Shame” and the classic “The Gumball Rally”.
