Look Who's in New York
BBC television sci-fi drama, Doctor Who films in New York City.
The 11th Doctor, Matt Smith, and his current partners in time travel Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill finished series 7 in style by filming the final episode in New York City. The Angels Take Manhattan aired on UK television last night and saw the dramatic end to Karen and Arthur's characters.
The actress, who plays Amy Pond, and her on-screen husband Rory, played by Arthur Darvill, have been in the drama for two-and-a-half years as the Timelords companions.
The pairs exit had been a closely guarded secret, but in The Angels Take Manhattan, the pair died at the hands of the terrifying statue creatures. Filming took place in Central Park's South East Corner, on the Bow Bridge, along the The Mall and near to the East River on the Brooklyn side between the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge.
Karen Gillan last appeared in the television recreation of the David Bailey visit to New York in the 1960's, We'll Take Manhattan, when she starred alongside Aneurin Barnard.
The Christmas special of Doctor Who will feature the doctor's new assistant, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
