Countdown to Christmas

30 November 2014

As the festive season approaches and many of us start ticking off the task lists, try to put some time aside this December to sit back and relax in front of the television with some must-see New York Christmas Classics.

Film: The Family Man

Last year otsoNY published a Top 10 list of Christmas films that are based in New York City with The Family Man coming out on top. It stars Nicolas Cage as Jack Campbell, a successful and talented businessman who is happily living his single life and believe he has everything, or so he thinks. One day he wakes up in a new life where he didn't leave his college girlfriend for a London trip. He is married to Kate played by Téa Leoni, and lives in Jersey with their two kids. He, of course, desperately wants his life back for which he has worked 13 years for. He is President of P. K. Lassiter Investment House and not a tire salesman at Big Ed's. He drives a Ferrari and not a mini-van that never starts. And most importantly he doesn't wake up in the morning with kids jumping on the bed. After a bad start, day by day he's more confident in his new life and starts to see what he's been missing.

Film: Serendipity

Other films in the list included the romantic Serendipity starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street and the thoughtful drama Noel starring Susan Sarandon, Penélope Cruz and the late Paul Walker, who was killed suddenly in a car crash a year ago today. Paul Walker’s final screen performance will be in the long-awaited Furious 7, which will be released in April 2015.

Actor: Paul Walker
