In spring 2018, Synth-Pop group Chvrches were in New York for a photoshoot with highly aclaimed photographer Danny Clinch. The Scottish trio, of which consists of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty were photographed on the Lower East Side of New York.

The background behind Chvrches (Looking across Bowery from East 3rd Street)

The Bowery neighbourhood runs roughly from the Bowery east to Allen Street and First Avenue, and from Canal Street north to Cooper Square/East Fourth Street. To the south is Chinatown, to the east are the Lower East Side and the East Village, and to the west are Little Italy and NoHo. It has historically been considered a part of the Lower East Side.

At the corner of East 3rd Street and Bowery

The actual corner upon which the band were standing in 2018 was at East 3rd Street and Bowery, near to the stylish Bowery Hotel where celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Kate Beckinsale, Jared Leto, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Kristen Stewart have stayed.

Two years after their formation, Chvrches released Recover EP in March 2013, which included hits "The Mother We Share" and "Recover". Their debut studio album, The Bones of What You Believe, was released on 20 September 2013, while the band was ranked fifth on the Sound of 2013 list by the BBC. Two years later, on 25 September 2015, the group released their second album, Every Open Eye. Their third album, Love Is Dead, was released on 25 May 2018.
