In 1961, Bob Dylan Timothée Chalamet) moves to New York City to meet his idol, Woody Guthrie, who is hospitalised. He impresses Guthrie and Pete Seeger (Edward Norton), who introduces him to the folk scene. Dylan soon meets and moves in with Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning), and his burgeoning talent catches the attention of manager Albert Grossman. Despite initial struggles with his debut album, Russo's encouragement leads Dylan to write more original songs, inspired by the era's social unrest. Dylan's relationship with Russo deteriorates as his fame grows, strained further by his new connection with Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro). By 1965, they split. Frustrated by creative constraints, Dylan embraces electric music, causing a rift in the folk community. At the Newport Folk Festival, despite opposition, he performs with his electric band, causing a scandal but marking his artistic independence. Dylan visits Guthrie one last time before heading into an uncertain future. |

otsoNY Comments: 801 Washington Street at the corner of 8th Street stood in for a Greenwich Village club set in 1960s Manhattan. The sign outside the club read: 'NY Center Folk Music Gerde's Folk City.'

otsoNY Comments: Eleven80, located in Downtown Newark, just north of Four Corners across from Military Park stood in for the CBS headquarters. A hallmark of the Newark skyline since its construction as a 36-story office building in 1930, it is noted for its Art Deco detail and ornamentation.

otsoNY Comments: In this scene, the characters are walking down Ellison Street away from Washington Street and towards County Road. In the next scene, the characters have somehow managed to return to the corner of Washington Street and proceed to walk down the same area of Ellison Street from which they had just been. The real giveaway is the large white art deco building in the distance, behind the characters, located at the corner of Ellison Street and Colt Street.

|

otsoNY Comments: McSwiggan's Pub at the corner of 1st Street and Bloomfield Street in Hoboken, New Jersey was transformed to look like McAnn's Bar, which was located at 693 3rd Avenue between East 43rd and 44th Streets in Manhattan.

|

otsoNY Comments: It would appear that the film has been rotated and what is supposed to be on the left such as the railings to the park is on the right, and the Hudson School in the distance is back to front.
