The life of lonely therapist Judith (Rosanna Arquette), who is overly dependent on her adult son, Marty. Concerned about his mother's isolation and emotional struggles, Marty hires a woman named Angie to secretly befriend her and bring some excitement into her life. Meanwhile, Marty is dealing with his own romantic issues, particularly his on-again, off-again relationship with his girlfriend. As Joyce and Angie grow closer, their relationship takes unexpected turns, and Marty’s plan backfires in humorous and heartwarming ways.
