The story revolves around Egon's estranged family, particularly his granddaughter, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace), and her single mother, Callie. When Egon passes away, Phoebe, Callie, and Phoebe's brother, Trevor, inherit his old farmhouse in the small town of Summerville. They discover Egon's secret laboratory in the basement, along with various Ghostbusters equipment and artifacts. Phoebe, a scientifically inclined and curious teenager, begins to unravel the mysteries of her grandfather's past and his connection to the Ghostbusters. She discovers that there is a supernatural threat looming over Summerville, and Egon had been preparing for it all these years.
