In New York, the simple and naive just-graduated in journalism Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is hired to work as the second assistant of the powerful and sophisticated Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the ruthless and merciless executive of the Runway fashion magazine. Andrea dreams to become a journalist and faces the opportunity as a temporary professional challenge. The first assistant Emily (Emily Blunt) advises Andrea about the behavior and preferences of their cruel boss, and the stylist Nigel helps Andrea to dress more adequately for the environment. The restaurant was known for being popular with celebrities and members of New York's fashion scene. In mid-2018, the restaurant's owners announced it would close in October 2018. The Manhattan twnhouse that doubled for Miranda Priestly's residence in "The Devil Wears Prada" has a particularly eye-catching spiral staircase, a living room which boasts two fireplaces, custom bookshelves and arched French doors. The dining room is spotlighted by a cerulean blue chandelier, whilst the primary bathroom hosts a soaking tub beneath an oculus window.
