84 years later a 100-year-old woman named Rose DeWitt Bukator tells the story to her granddaughter Lizzy Calvert, Brock Lovett, Lewis Bodine, Bobby Buell, and Anatoly Mikailavich on the Keldysh about her life set in April 10th 1912, on a ship called Titanic when young Rose (Kate Winslet) boards the departing ship with the upper-class passengers and her mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater, and her fiancé, Caledon Cal Hockley. Meanwhile, a drifter and artist named Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his best friend Fabrizio De Rossi win third-class tickets to the ship in a game. And she explains the whole story from departure until the death of Titanic on its first and last voyage April 15th, 1912 at 2:20 in the morning. |
otsoNY Comments: At the time when Rose arrives in New York, the Statue of Liberty is the same colour as it is today. But if you visit the Statue of Liberty, you'll find a plate telling you that the original colour was brown, and it took over 35 years for it to change colour. The Statue of Liberty was placed there in 1886, so in 1912 it should have still been partly brown. Also, for the 100th anniversary the flame was replaced in 1986 with a gold flame. The film shows the Statue holding a torch with a gold flame, not the original.
